Restaurant Mare e Monti by Kukuriku was Frank’s last in a row for Restaurant Week 2011. Mare e Monti by Kukuriku in Stella Maris Holiday Village near Umag offered definitely the best food Frank had during the Restaurant Week. And it is the only one where Frank will not go back. Ever. Wine Bar Tinja was a second in the row during the Restaurant Week. This place, in Frank’s opinion, is a real bijou. Located in Sikici, at the outskirts of Pula, the place was extremely hard to find. Equipped with GPS and without a worry, Frank ended up in the middle of fields, without a house in sight. Back on the main road, he tried to get the right directions from the locals he met. Frank started Restaurant Week with a visit to Le Mandrac restaurant in Volosko. Volosko is a small, fishing village close to Opatija. Frank’s already written about Konoba Tramerka, another great place to eat in Volosko. Anyway, not being the subject of this post at the moment. Frank is really excited about the upcoming Restaurant Week Croatia 2011. Restaurant Week started three years ago in Zagreb. This year, for the first time, restaurants through out Croatia take part in Restaurant Week. Restaurant Week is aimed at promoting local gastronomy and restaurant scene. This project itself was brought to Croatia by Zeljka Marjanovic, a marketing expert and a photographer Ozren Drobnjak. [Read more...]
