Camping Dole is situated 25 km south of Makarska, near a village called Zivogosce Blato. Frank used to camp in the camping Dole Makarska for a three years in a row, last time back in 2007.
Camping Dole Makarska Overview
It is a fairly large campsite for Dalmatia. It has 500 units and can accommodate up to 2.000 people. Camping plots are equipped with electrical supply. Campsite offers tents and caravans to rent.
Installations (especially sanitary units) are old and worn out. In the high season, there could be a shortage of warm water supply. Some pitches are at the very sea and beach front. Camping is rather long than wide. At one side, it borders the main road and some pitches can be noisy. There is a lot of shadow under pine, fig and olive trees.
There is a market in the campsite, as well as a grill, bar, fruit & vegetable stand, souvenir shop and ice cream parlor. The market staff Frank found really friendly and nice. There is a restaurant Delfin, on the main road, just 100 m above the camping. Nice beach bar & grill you’ll find in the small family own camping Boban, adjacent to camping Dole Makarska.
Activities offered are pedal and jet ski rental, banana ride and para-sailing. There are also boat excursions departing from the neighboring village going to Hvar and Brac island. More boat excursions are offered from Makarska.
The main advantage of the camping Dole Makarska is the nature. The natural pebble beach is in Frank’s humble opinion the nicest beach he has seen in any camping in Croatia. The sea is crystal clear. Just above the camping Dole Makarska is Biokovo mountain, rising from the waters below. Hike up to the village Zivogosce Strn for the stunning views of the coast, the sea and the island of Hvar.
In short, Camping Dole has beautiful nature, especially the beach, while installations are rather poor.
